Fuse return to 93, the best Sunday morning in 6 years, almost left in the dark!
It’s Saturday 11:30 pm and I have finished setting up the new light rig in room 2 for what is set to be the most iconic moment of the venue since its establishment. My show is prepped, I’ve just got to do make the place look good, but I was feeling the pressure of doing the lights for such a big event, especially working side by side with my father who is a bit of a legend in the industry.
Nothing could go wrong! Well, that’s what I thought as I left the venue to go to the first party, admire my dad’s work, and start feeling the vibe as to be on point with the crowd when the time comes.
“11:45, The venue calls, Nothing is working…. I rushed back”
11:45, The venue calls, Nothing is working…. I rushed back. Having no real formation or knowledge of how things work this was super tough, I had to call 2 people in to help me and we spent the whole night ripping out cables trying to find the problem. The pressure was on, there was shouting and almost tears but somehow I managed to keep my cool, and thankfully at 6:00 am half an hour before doors, we had a very basic setup that would suit the requirements of the promoter.

The party was a huge success, everything went well, and I learned the ins and out of the venue had my first real shot at programming a desk, and real experience at troubleshooting when everything goes wrong. This benefits me on a day-to-day basis in the venue and taught me the foundations of a lot of what I know today.
