This was the first time I had worked with this double bass sound and was excited to see how much of the harmonics I could bring out, the vibrations coming from the strings, the pitch dives and the overall tone of the instrument was beautiful and I couldn’t wait to hear how the NEVE 2254 would tuck in the low end and brighten the mid-range. For the high end, I wanted it to sound bright yet warm and this is really where the Cartecs character comes to play. I set the dial to 8 KPS and added a boost of 8db. I was attracted by 2 things in this domain. first of all the capacity to define a personality, character or energy of a specific object time or place entirely through is something that really fascinates me. Secondly the idea creating your own sound bank to personalise the experience the same way an artist would build up their own sample database. My journey to build my own sample library has already led me to some incredible places, from the English countryside to the cloud forests of Costa Rica. There, I worked on a research project recording vocalisations to analyse primate behaviour and habitat wellbeing. About Me - Born in London I grew up in the UK until the age of 13 My family and I moved to the mountains in France to pursue my dreams of becoming a professional snowboarder and to get out of the city for a more low-key lifestyle. However, music has always been essential and even back then I would spend most of my time not in school, or not on the mountain, digging for tracks I heard in snowboard videos. My passion for snowboarding took me to be project manager and coach at a summer camp for one of the industry’s biggest brands for 4 summers straight. I used to work with kids a lot at after school camps, it was a cool time that taught me how to be a leader when necessary but a team player when most needed. As a youngster with 2 highly active members of the rave scene as parents, I could often be found lingering in clubs in the day time where coiling cables was my thing however I never thought I would go into working in the club industry, and it’s really funny to find myself in my parent’s path doing the same thing 20 years down the line.
